The Ocean (living room session)

about

This is a song that we, my dear friend Bryson & I, wrote about hurting and healing. It’s about how even when you had wished your body would give out or your heart would stop beating that you kept going. when you wished you couldn’t be as resilient as you are but you still were and still will be. It’s about being glad that you stuck around every time you drive through a dark tunnel and come out the other side into the world. Being glad you stuck around every time you see a sunset. Being glad you stuck around. You can’t have the good stuff without the bad stuff, but god! is the good stuff is worth it.

lyrics

In the eye of the storm
Everything so calm
But not for long.
Receding to my shores,
Trying to stall-
You knocked down every wall.

And I couldn't bear goin' to the ocean
So the ocean came to me
You came to me

La da da da dum da

Heart so worn
You gave me roses and
I focused on the thorns
But that's part of the deal
Roses come with thorns
You gotta hurt to heal

And I couldn't bear goin' to the ocean
So the ocean came to me
You came to me

La
la dada
la da da da da da da da
